Information on the Company Section badge structure that First Bangor Boys Brigade undertakes.
In the First Bangor Boys Brigade Company Section (aged between 11-18), boys take part in the Discover Award badge scheme.
Within the Discover Award there are three main badges that the boys work to attain, Recreation Badge (zone), Skills Badge (zone) and Community Badge (zone). There are four levels for each badge (zone) and each year the boys work to attain the level for each badge.
So in their first year the boys will aim to achieve ‘Level 1’ in the Recreation Badge, ‘Level 1’ in the Skills Badge and ‘Level 1’ in the Community Badge. In their second year the boys will move onto ‘Level 2’.
It will take a minimum of four years to complete the scheme and requires a huge amount of effort and dedication, but also lots of fun! Having completed the Discovery Award Scheme the boys should be very proud of what they have achieved.
To achieve each level in the Recreation Badge, boys are required to obtain 10 points. 1 Point = 1 hour of activity.
Activities within this section include, Athletics, Board Games, Table Sports, Circuit Training, Healthy Living, Drug Awareness and Expedition.
To achieve each level in the Community Badge, boys are required to obtain 7 points. 1 Point = 1 hour of activity.
Activities within this section include Local Community, My Town, BB Worldwide, Tearfund, Recycling, Weather, Conservation, Money and Christian Faith.
